30 minutes from the camp site was a half mile trail that lead to this amazing waterfall. the climb got more difficult the higher you went. definitely going back this summer so i can swim since the air temperature was 50 degrees that weekend…

view from the ridge that went behind the fall and someone with more guts than me swimming in the freezing water.

i’m not sure what soohang is doing here

3.5 day trip to SF with jay (in the rain).

flew in at night on a thursday, checked in, ate soup and drank a pitcher of beer. woke up and ate a great brunch then walked a good majority of the city.
apple chicken sausage

i fell in love with the buildings- they all had a unique charm and were painted crazy colors while maintaining the characteristics and details of the original construction.

SF is sign-crazy. this one was actually cool.

there’s absolutely no fun allowed in the golden gate park

we stumbled on a museum where you can walk up a tower and get a 360 degree view of SF
this was in the lobby

this was a few minutes before jay was shot in the chest by a rogue sprinkler. don’t worry, he deserved it.

we then took a bus and walked halfway over the bridge before a rain storm rolled in over the bay

these guys were surfing at the base of the bridge and had to dodge the rocks

SF love

when in rome- do a gay pose in SF with an umbrella on the golden gate bridge

how about 2?

dude! you’re a grown man!

fun times

the rain let up a little and we took a short bus ride to the beginning of lumbard street. i don’t know how many miles it was but it doesn’t matter since we walked up and over, then down to the wharf for In-N-Out Burger.

this was my favorite house

“eat shit”

jay walked out and said- “it’s happy hour, $10 pitchers!” and then walked directly into hooters without respect for my opinion.

RC colas and whiskey

we then met up with jay’s friend jerry and this is his fridge with a random collage of decorations

and then a bar had $3 24oz red stripes

the next morning we met jerry and peter for breakfast before heading to the redwood forrest. poor peter ordered the most pathetic grilled cheese i’ve ver seen. but hey, it’s organic.

redwood forrest in the rain, hungover, dragging our feet.

Coney Island in Winter 01.2009
January 20, 2009 · 2 Comments
the past few months have been slow for my photographs, i’ve felt uninspired- perhaps it’s the winter and seasonal depression, maybe it’s 12 hr work days in a dark room behind 3 monitors that seem to glow criticism in my direction, maybe i’m making excuses. but i overheard someone on the train talking about coney island getting torn down and i instantly wanted to go with some friends and my camera. i love beaches in the winter because it brings a different perspective on a regular summer activity and i tend to notice more, walk slower, and apparently shoot 200 pictures in 2 hours. what made this day great was the snow storm that rolled in just as we left my apartment- i began to visualize the photographs and got antsy on the drive over. the photo spark that went out at the end of summer feels like it’s been re-lit.

matt and benny

what’s left of the haunted roller coaster…

benny dropping knowledge, matt warning soohang about loose wires that are probably still active, and jay is most likely texting andrea on his asshole phone.

soohang

we finally made our way down to the beach and came across a dog having the best day of it’s life.

what’s left of the volley ball courts.

as we walked along the boardwalk three hasidic jews came out with huge black umbrellas and headed towards the water. i pretty much ran down the boardwalk, on ice, in tread-less clarks, to get these two shots that are by far my favorite from the entire day. the balance i displayed on the icey boardwalk would bring tears to an olymic figure skater and brian boytanno is slitting his wrists as we speak out of pure jealousy.

“shoot the freak”……ok.

nathan’s cheese dogs and a $3.50 killians. ’nuff said.

a frenzy of unwrapping.

everyone- “that building across the street looks interesting.”
me- “the balcony reminds me of the scene in spiderman where the goblin blows it up and almost kills kirsten dunst….good scene.”

Belated Apt Warming BBQ
September 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment
a very belated apt warming party that should have been thrown back in july. the first day of fall, beautiful weather, 20 some-odd friends, food and beer….life is good. i really dropped the ball on taking a lot of pics so some of these are from benny.
i spent about 1.5 hours grilling for our guests- 5lbs of hand packed italian sausage, who knows how many hot dogs, 4lbs of chicken featuring my custom rub, 2lbs of chicken with maker’s mark bbq sauce, and “rat tails” brought by matt which is a hollowed out jalapeno with a jumbo shrimp stuffed inside and wrapped in bacon.
